Rigging Monsters

Updated: May 20, 2019

Monster No.1

This monster can only move by using its tongue which is why the parent rig starts at its forehead and end at the tip of its tongue. This is a very simple rig but one which will allow for the animation to express this monster's weight and unnerving immobility.

Monster No.2

Since this creature's build is similar to a canine's the rigs are positioned similar to a canine's joints for a more natural walk cycle. It would've been best if the parent rig started at the top of its spine instead of on top of its head as it does not have the ability to move its neck without moving its whole body with the current set up. Furthermore, The ears should've been rigged from the top of its skull for more expressive movement.

Monster No.3

This monster suffers from the same problem as Monster No.2 where its unable to move its head without moving its whole body because the parent rig has been placed at the tip of the head-tail. Although it already has plenty of movement in its legs and tail it would've benefited from having smaller rigs in its flippers.
