The following renders are of a mock-up interior environment I created using photos I took inside St Mary's Cathedral placed as image shaders on 3D planes mixed with quick 3D models of benches, roof structure and altar steps. The purpose of this experiment was to understand how much functional material I can gather from photographs alone as photography is permitted within certain areas of the cathedral making it impossible to capture the interior in perfect detail. Furthermore, I created a number of lights to capture the atmosphere I am aiming for. The latter experiment did not go as intended and I will create more thorough lighting and shading test renders later on.
During this process I have discovered that it is possible to create movie shaders which means I can easily import videos into my Maya project and fulfill the Motion Design aspect of this project. Possible movie shaders can be burning candles and moving shadows.
