Setting: St Mary's Cathedral
The setting will be St Mary's Cathedral because of its architectural grandeur and Gothic Revival roots. This makes it the closest easily accessible site reminiscent of the Gothic architecture movement and the ideal environment to amplify the many religious over-tones of all other components. Although St Mary's is a clear example of English architecture, it is fashioned after the pinnacle of French Gothic, Notre Dame de Paris. These stylistic choices include balance of vertical and horizontal features, the stained-glass window stretching across the entirety of the central wall, organic curved carvings and three portals.
Initial Moodboard
This initial moodboard was created to capture the essence of the vision I had and see if all the components generally fit together or not.
Artistic Influence
This is a further breakdown of my artistic influences, how they will be used in the project and what aspects they will contribute to the overall delivery and interpretation.
Cinematography Inspiration
The final 360 video will be a fluid walkthrough of the environment captured in one shot. ‘Death Stranding’s’ game trailer used this approach to establish the world, characters and themes without relying on inter-cuts or dialogue. Some aspects of the camerawork such as the shaking, stumbling and pacing will be incorporated later on in production.
Soundtrack Inspiration
The hymn which will be sung by my little sister (9 years old) is Rorate Caeli. In my audio I intend to capture a young girl's voice echoing off the empty interior and create an ominous, 'calm-before-the-storm' atmosphere.
